id like to find something similar to a hotel to stay at for while until i find a good apartment that doesnt break the bank. ive looked at a few rooms from craigslist and i havent found anything ive liked thus far.

Have you looked at B&B web sites? The Jermyn Hotel downtown used to have rooms for transients at monthly rates but it's no longer in business as a hotel. Ditto for the West Side Hotel on Main Ave. (Note: they're listed as a bar but still might have rooms.) You could always check the motels and hotels to see if they offer monthly rates.

Check out vacation rentals on tripadvisor. Why pay for a hotel when you can rent a house for the same price?

i assume you mean bed and breakfast?
and yeah i checked a few motels already and even the cheaper ones want close to 1300 a month

That's reasonable in this day and age. A decent motel room comes furnished with all utilities and maid service (daily or otherwise). Example: my cable, internet and phone bill comes to about $200 a month. Most motels come with free WIFI.
There are plenty of apartments available in greater Scranton. Why haven't you found one? See Craig's List.
