I'm just glad I don't live in Canada, they don't even know how to sell it by the gallon up there!

My 500-gallon oil tank is now down about 400 gallons. I have a feeling filling it up will not be cheap!

Don't get me started! I actually ran out at the beginning of May and I was running to the gas station to buy 5 gallons at a time, at $5.4990 per gallon. That was actually cheaper per gallon that the delivered price from my heating oil discounter! Did that for about 25 gallons worth but then realized that the gas station could raise their heating oil price at any time, so I bit the bullet and ordered 150 gallons at $5.7490. Right now it's "down to" $5.3490 with 100 gallon minimum.

I am expecting the bill to be over $2K. That will be the most I ever paid for heating oil. I think I will keep working and not do a full retirement at 75!

If you buy 400 gallons it will easily be over $2k. You can always spread it out by getting 200 now and 200 toward the end of the summer, but who knows if the price will be over $6 or $7 by then?

We just bought a house that has a kerosene heater in the basement. My husband was debating about venting the floors and bringing the heat upstairs vs replacing all the electric baseboard heaters with the new oil style. Well, kerosene is sitting around $6.40 a gallon right now. Guess we'll see what winter PPL bills will bring before we decide.

FWIW Liberty Oil is delivering Dyed Kero for $5.8390/gallon right now.

On my way in today, I saw that regular gas at the Sunoco in DWG has gone up to $5.4990 but the Gulf across the street is still at $5.2490.

Honestly, we know nothing about running a kerosene system. The manual for the heater is in the new house, so we'll read and do some online digging. I know it's more efficient than propane but that's about it.
