It doesn't cover the Catskills that much, so why the Poconos?

I think both ranges lean much closer to what can be called the Northeast. Especially Monroe and Pike counties - why any county that borders New Jersey would be part of Appalachia is beyond me. There are even a few Wawa stores in Carbon and Monroe counties.

I don't really think Appalachia starts until Schuylkill County, or at least not until you're west of the Wilkes-Barre and Hazleton areas.

I'm from the Lehigh Valley, where the northernmost areas could be considered the Poconos, particularly the Bangor, Wind Gap and Slatington areas. We're all part of the Philly media market.

The Appalachian Trail runs from Georgia to Maine.

What context of Appalachia are you referring to? The Poconos are not socioeconomically part of Appalachia in my opinion.

The 4 counties that traditionally are considered The Poconos are all part of Appalachia, according to official sources.
