Default Back Mountain

Here are some photos of the very affluent Back Mountain (Beverly Hills) area of Luzerne County:

Needless to say I was giddy with delight when I realized I could now see the images crystal clear, as if one were in a low-flying aircraft. The images are so crisp that you can just about make out the makes and models of vehicles on roadways. I just learned that there are more homes in my subdivision with swimming pools than I initially thought! LOL!

To access the images, feel free to follow this link: Web browser and Live Maps are incompatible Enjoy!
I can get Virtual Earth at Lake Winola, I think Google Earth is easier and
quicker !!!

The pictures are so real and with the "birds eye view" that...........
I'm thinking, we hardly need our photo tours.........
I've never seen such clear images on the other sites..........
Now, maybe I have to sell my camera on Ebay..........

Google Earth has a new "street level" option they're working on...you can actually "drive" down a street & do a panorama 360 at any point street level!!

They haven't made it to our area yet here in Fl., but it's coming & the same up in NEPA eventually. We're going up to St. Augustine in August (no...I didn't stutter) to show some friends visiting, & I found our B&B & scoped out the area like I was driving!! It was pretty cool!!!

Google Earth's having legal problems with it now 'cause some folks are PO'd if they or their car or house are in the pix calling it "an invasion of privacy"!!

I can't believe the SIZE of those houses going up!!! No wonder people are so over-extended!!!!

All I see is more rooms to vacuum & heat!!!

My partner always complains that these "Desperate Housewife" types always have a "strained" looking puss on 'em!! I say it's from worrying how to meet the bills, & he says it's 'cause all the fat they had sucked outta their butts didn't make their lips big enough!!!

Paul, I like the way those subdivisions look. Beautiful houses that I can't afford. I would consider moving there if I could.

To each their own, I guess....too sterile and blah for me. I have to wonder why they never have many trees in subdivisions? Its like they clear cut the woods and plop the houses in the middle of an open field. The houses are way too uniform and lined up perfectly for me....."sterile" and "blah" come to mind. Give me the old neighborhoods anyday. Even if I had more money, I have no desire to move out of my modest old house...I just would probably have it totally remodeled inside and out, and maybe add a small addition for one more room. That's about it.

All I hear about in NEPA are people whining "I'm poor. WAHHHH!!!," yet there are thousands upon thousands of homes just like the ones I photographed around here. Either this area has a high proportion of whiners, a high proportion of people living on plastic, or a high proportion of "haves" vs. "have-nots."

As FightinPhils basically said, "to each their own." I agree with him that it's a travesty that so many of these subdivisions are clear-cutting all of their trees in order for the yuppie wannabes to have their perfectly-manicured lawns. Aren't there any developments around here that actually keep some trees intact? I can name a few like Laurel Brook Estates and Glendalough, but by and large suburbanites seem to be very NIMBY against trees (along with everything else, but I digress). I never fully realized just how wealthy the Pittston Area School District was until this feature came out, and I could see sprawling development after sprawling development surrounding the rotting core of Pittston City. What a shame.
