What sort of activity? I dont see the increase in crime to support that argument other than some spray paint on stop signs. As a matter of fact, I dont see the crowds of kids hanging out and I drive through sunrise all hours of the night. Im not saying they arent there, Im just saying it isnt that obvious to me.

To let those of you interested know. We did go to Shohola & DVES and my kids loved both schools. They are hopping to end up in Shohola. The schools have so much to offer that their current school doesn't. We also ran into some parents that had nothing but positive comments. We are very excited to be moving to the area. Thank you all for the input!

OMG OMG,
Yes we have KILLER GANGS,
KILLER BROWN RECLUSE SPIDERS,
BEARS WILL EAT YOU,
THE BUCKS WILL CHARGE AT YOU ANTLERS FIRST,
GYPSY MOTHS WILL EAT YOUR SKULL AND SIP OUT YOUR BRAIN JUICE (eww)
You have to know the secret gang handshake to buy the sunday paper at the local deli,
DONT WEAR RED OR BLUE CLOTHING YOU WILL GET BEAT UP.

Do you see where I am going with this people. Fact is there are no more or less of anything up in Pike County than there is in NJ.
The Delaware River is not a magical barrier that stops bad people.
Now since taxes are much lower in PA, you also have less cops on the road, but also there is a lot less in the population density as well.
If you live in a development that was pushed by the realtors to people that are low income, then that is what your neighborhood will consist of. This is EXACTLY LIKE ANYPLACE ELSE.

There are parts of Poconos and Pike County PA that have a lot of "transplants" living their.
People who moved in from NY and NY and then you have the people who have lived in northeast PA their whole lives. So take into account what some people are used to seeing and what they will call "gangs" where a transplant would see a kid on the street
and see " a kid on the street, or kids"

Milford, Dingmans, Hawley, Blooming Grove, all the surrounding areas are nice little places. That is the facts people.
Matamoras/Port Jervis does have some financial problems as far as the town is concerned but that is being rectified.

The biggest thing you have to fear up in Pike County, is PEOPLE DRIVING TO DAMN FAST, and taking turns to fast.
Or the idiots that swerve to miss a deer and instead hit a tree.

DEERS ARE SOFTER THAN TREES, HIT THE DEER, DONT SWERVE !!!!
If you were speeding in the first place then you should be ok, but if your speeding then your going to have a worse crash.
Save the speeding for NJ, the NJ state police and Sussex county Sherrifs would love to give you a speeding ticket.

Save your speeding for Rt.80 or Rt.84 or the highway part or Rt.15 after the RR tracks in Sparta.

I also just moved to Milford. I have two children who will be starting at DVHS and DDES. I must say everyone has been nice and welcoming. Alot of our neighbors are from NY. All the husbands travel to city to work. Not much to do around here. Shopping is very far. Hopefully kids will adjust. The younger one has. The older one not so much. Hopefully when school starts things will be different. The atmoshere is beatiful. You make the best of it with what you have. Milford is a small town. They do have things on the weekends. The home prices are right and taxes. I have heard good and bad about the schools. I think if you raise your children the right way they will fall in the right group of kids. Best of luck to you.

It's interesting that you call Milford a small town. Compared to the town we live in (Greentown), Milford seems like a "big city". I guess it's all relative.

Because parts of Dingman Twsp. don't have their own post office and share the same zip code, many people in Gold Key Lake or Sunrise Lake communities say they are from Milford. But if you are talking about Milford Boro/Twshp that is much different. Milford is a peaceful place from Oct. - early June.
The town could use a traffic bypass so all traffic doesn't need to funnel through the town.
Most people are still nice, including many of the transplants. But you can catch an occasional city attitude.
The real draw of Milford is its location. Convinience to more than one roadway (routes 6/206/209/84) its closeness to nature if you want to hike the state lands or float the Delaware.
