Hi- I have read all thru these threads and I got a lot of great info but I'm wondering if anyone could give me some more recent info on the DV School District. We are looking to relocate to Milford and we based our location on communte into NJ and School reports. We have Elementary aged kids and really want to know the pro's and cons to the schools.
Any info will help.
Thanks

My kids have been in a DV elementary school for almost 2 years now with no problems. The teachers have been very attentive and encouraging. Compared to NJ, where we moved from, they really seem to push education a lot more. I'm happy with the school system so far.

Thanks. Do you mind I have more questions.
Do you like the Principal? Is he or she involved with the kids? Where we are now the principal is a no-see-um and it showes.
Would there be an area or neighborhood you would advise us from buying a home?
Where do you do most of the clothes shopping? It doesn't look like there's a mall too close.
Thank you for your time. I really do appreciate any info.

Yes. Dr. Schaeffer is very nice...seems to know a lot of the kids by name...very approachable. I met with my son's speech therapist and her and a few others to discuss his speech therapy and what we're going to do for next year when he starts kindergarten. I've never actually met her personally one on one but when we met at the meeting, she said, yes, I recognize you... So that leads me to believe, she is very alert and pays attention to what is happening at the school. This is at Shohola Elementary.

We are in Shohola at the far end near Greeley. There are a bunch of "communities" here in Shohola, there is also a lot of area that are just plain old local neighborhoods but are much more spread out than you would be used to in NJ. We have a little over 4 acres so our neighbors aren't exactly too close by...lol. Hopefully you'll get more feedback on the community side of things but I wouldn't prefer it...

As far as shopping goes, if you head down through Milford and head east towards Port Jervis on Route 6/209, there is Walmart, Kmart, Lowes, Home Depot, fast food, supermarkets, gas, hotels. If you want shopping malls, you either head up to Middletown NY to Galleria...about 45-50 mins or out i84 to Scranton....pretty much same distance. Or the good ole' shop online....

Hope this helps... if you have any more ???, feel free to ask...

Come on NEPA people....help me out here...how about some community info???

Wow. Thanks for all the info. I was just on the phone w/ DV Elementary and Shohola to walk thru w/ the kids. I have to say from the Superintendants office to the lady's in the school everyone was very helpful and pleasant to talk to.
Thank you
