Just relocated to PA and husband works in Wilkes Barre. We're currently staying with family near the Pocono raceway. Looking for an area to settle in that's closer to Wilkes Barre but in a more rural area that has the feel of this area. Would like to be within a 20 minute commute to his work, right now it's like 40 minutes and he takes 115. Any suggestions?

Yeah, get in your car and drive the approximate time and distance you described. When you see something you like, park the car and get a closer look.

Do you want to buy or rent and what is your budget like? Nothing really rural within 20 minutes of WB. The Dallas (back mountain) area is suburban as is the Mountaintop area. If you want rural, you'll have to stay somewhere in the Poconos.

If you were from another area, the question may be valid, but you indicated you already live in the area. Perhaps you were thinking that someone here knows of a town not visible from Google Maps?

Have you checked out the Thornhurst area? I have no idea what is available - but it is closer than the race track and is considerably more rural.

I made a long post back to you but the mod saw fit to delete the entire thing instead of just the links. So thoughtful thank you. I mentioned Bear Creek, Laurel Run, Mountain Top, glen Summit and Nuangola as possibilities. I'm not typing all the other valuable information again.
