In Wilkes-Barre people usually don't want to move into the aprtment complexes because of high crime rates.

That's a stupid comment. both cities have there fair share of low income apartments. I live in Wilkes-barre and love it. The downtown is bouncing back strong, lots of new construction, restaraunts, a new transportation center ect. Some people from the Scranton area will have you believe that W-b is some 3rd world slum, but everytime im in Scranton I see the same exact problems, blight, shady looking people. i don't get it? I guess thier blight is fancier then ours. Wilkes-Barre has good and bad apartment complexes as well as good and bad neighborhoods. SO DOES SCRANTON. Both cities are very similar in appearance, demographics, jobs and unemployment, pay rates, rent rates ect. They are almost identical. They both offer similar quality of life features, entertainment options ect, and are close enough to each other that you can drive to one or the other to see a show ect. I personally like Wilkes-barre. that's my opinion.

Why would you want to live in either city when plenty of nice small towns offer so much more?
Wyoming is a nice town, Swoyersville and West Pittston are also nice towns.

The trend now nationwide is an exodus of people from the exurbs back into the inner suburbs and people from the inner suburbs back into the city proper so they can eschew their vehicles and walk, bike, or take transit to more conveniences. Less time behind the wheel means more time spent with loved ones.

Why this trend has yet to hit Scranton or Wilkes-Barre is beyond my realm of comprehension. What do South Abington Township, Dallas Township, Pittston Township, or other sterile upscale suburban communities in the area offer that the Electric and Diamond Cities can't? When I move back to the region I'm only interested in Wilkes-Barre.

I just moved to the Green Ridge section of Scranton and I love it...it is such a nice area.
I was born in the W-B and it is and always has been such a dump. I wouldn't live anywhere there.
