This is Scranton....trust me, no local politician is holding a fundraiser at the establishment of a non-supporter.

So then, I take it the answer is "no."

I'm sure Dan will find out the answer, and I would appreciate it if he could post a response here afterward. Either the owner is a supporter, or his opinion is 'business is business.'

NEPA truly has it's own convictions. I have many friends and acquaintances who have stood to lose their jobs over the years due to an election. Some did, some didn't, but you can't deny the absolute ripple effect after a new administration takes office. And it's not just the employee, it's their families as well who feel the pain. In an area where politics is as much a career choice as anything else, we have a whole extra set of rules to live by.

I may not agree with Dan's choice, but I do respect it, provided that we sling facts rather than mud. I won't profess anything I feel is not true just to derail or aid a political campaign.

Sure you can....I'll be there this weekend and put it bluntly to the owner and see what he has to say. I'm pretty sure that the owners family is from Greenridge, actually less then a block over and down from the Mayors house. If its the same family that I think it is and I'm pretty sure that I'm right they are without question campaign supporters...His father used to drive a real nice white Porsche 928S with the factory wahletail when we I was in HS...That might ring a bell or two because it was a fairly rare car for this area and in general with that tail option and S designation.

This might be in other campaigns but the Doherty camp really ownly goes to places that support them...He has polarizied himself too much not too....Gannons, McMullens, Cosgroves(until they closed), Stirnas....

If I owned a business I would have refused Doherty also. I wouldn't want anything to do with him or his political fund-raiser for his campaign.

Tomorrow night the Backyard Alehouse will be hosting a fundraiser for the Nay Aug Conservancy with Doherty as the guest bartender...This seals the deal on the AleHouse and yes the owners are the Nasser family from Greenridge......

They will be black listed in my house and to all I know as well. Supporting this establishment is like supporting Doherty and his policies.....The firemen and police will most likely black list them as well. They will go the way of Cosgroves soon enough I'm sure.

Sorry guys, but its your own fault, you should have known better.

On a side note I am tempted to go have the mayor mix drinks for me...The level of uneasiness would be amusing....

I literally just laughed at loud. I'd almost be willing to pay for that drink just to witness the absolute indifference in stark contrast to the imagined uneasiness...

Shame I have better things to do with my time.
