We recently purchased a home and I just recieved this letter that says this parcel is being removed from the Homestead/Farmstead program.
What the heck is that? And what should I do?

Or more specifically, it WAS a tax break. Some how you purchasing it caused the property to be re-assessed and they pulled your homestead exception.

Just call and ask for the application to have it reapplied. Homestead/farmstead does not pass with the property form owner to owner. Same thing happened when we purchased our home...we just called the tax collector, got the appropriate form, and submitted it and it got renewed.

Enya is absolutely right...The Homestead/Farmstead must be applied for by the current owner, that is as long as it is your principal residence...It doesn't apply to vacation homes...
