Which parts of Vienna would be sketchy for a family w/ elem-age children? Developments, street names, sections, etc would be very helpful to know. Thanks so much.

Within the Town of Vienna, none that I know of.

Come to think of it, I can't think of any within the Vienna mailing area either, though I haven't lived here long enough to be The Authority.

"Sketchy" and "Vienna" don't really belong in the same sentence, which may account for the few responses to your post.

There are probably more incidents (drunk and disorderlies and an occasional arrest for prostitution) at the Cedar Park apartment complex and strip mall on the south side of the Town near the intersection of Cedar and Park Streets than anywhere else in Vienna, but it's quite contained. Go a couple of blocks in any direction from there and it's more than fine.

There are no "shady" areas of Vienna that I have seen. Most people living in Vienna pick an area of Vienna that is doable for their commute.
Best of luck

Lived in the Town of Vienna for 6 years and loved the safe neighborhoods. You won't go wrong with Vienna.

I agree that the only "sketchy" area might be the Cedar Park Apartments. It's on the corner of Patrick Street and Park Street. The development is mostly recent immigrants from Central or South America. It's probably not really unsafe but mostly Spanish spoken and lower income than the rest of Vienna.

Overall, the Town of Vienna is great. Love it and would be happy to answer any questions. We've been here for over 9 years.

Look for houses in the 22182 zip code. That's the part that is closest to McLean, but all of Vienna is fairly close.
