Cause they want bigger houses. Also, most people prefer a more suburban setting when they have kids.

Please. That's pure conjecture.

There are plenty of large single family homes in Alexandria with suburban settings, and these homes should be desirable since Alexandria has public transportation access, is a large job center, and the homes aren't as expensive as other areas that I've mentioned. Should be, if not for the schools.

Moderator cut: Not Arlington or Alexandria statistics, which is the topic of this thread So, "wanting a bigger house" is really.........

Plenty? Where? Have you ever been to Alexandria? As someone pointed out earlier there haven't been any SFHs built there since the 50s. You might want to visit sometime. Do you even know where the city limits are?

If there are plenty of families with kids willing to pay more for small homes because of the great schools in the areas I mentioned, then why shouldn't they consider Alexandria also?

Oh, I know....

They're just one small segment of the market. The more numerous childless households prefer Alexandria so are overrepresented there.

Which doesn't answer the question as to if Alexandria is such a desirable place to live and raise kids, then why aren't more families relocating there...

There are some but why would a town full of condos and townhomes be attractive to them even if it had great schools? It wouldn't. Parents of school age kids want big lots and houses with cul de sacs and streets kids can play on. Those don't exist in most parts of Alexandria.

Do you even have kids?

I already presented you with the median sales price data. What data did you present in your universe?

Again, I recommend that you pay attention to the real estate market and comments on this blog about those two areas and you'll note those points as facts, which is reflected in the high median sales prices for those areas.
