I recently moved to Woodbridge and I may start a job in Chevy Chase soon. The hours will be 8am-4pm. What's a good time to leave from Woodbridge to get there on time? Is the traffic extremely heavy? Best roads to take to and back? Any info or tips will be greatly appreciated.

My mom works in Silver Spring and commutes from Woodbridge. She just works earlier hours so she doesn't spend 2 hours on the road. She gets into the office at 6:30 a.m. (takes her about an hour). She leaves at 4:30 p.m. and that often equates to a 2 hour commute but sometimes it's *just* an hour and a half.

Go to Old Hechinger's commuter lot (corner of Old Bridge Road and 123) around 6:30-6:45am, pick up two slugs for 14th Street in DC, get on HOV, drop them off on 14th St., turn left on MA Ave, then right on Connecticut Avenue up to Chevy Chase.

On your return trip, go down CT Ave, turn left on MA Ave, and right on 14th Street. Pick up slugs on 14th Street just before New York Avenue, go down 14th Street, and take the HOV to Old Hechinger's.

Picking up slugs will save you commuting time on I95 and I395, sometimes by over an hour.
