I've walked parts of that too; very nice!

I love the walk around Burke Lake, too. RR, didn't you also recently have a really nice walk from the Key Bridge to somewhere in Arlington? Arlington is such a nice city to walk in.

I actually needed to clear my mind on a Saturday recently and hopped the Orange Line to the Smithsonian station, emerged back on the surface, walked from the National Mall to Georgetown, crossed the Key Bridge, and then walked through Rosslyn up to Ballston in Arlington. It was a very enjoyable walk. I'm surprised so many in The District take the bus/train for such short distances when I walked for seemingly miles without even realizing it.

River Bend Park along the river down to Great Falls and back. Rocks, trees ferns and groundcover, sometimes deer on one side, lovely breeze coming off the river (usually) on the other, the sound of the falls starting as a low hum/rumble and getting louder as you get closer, and then a scramble up the rocks to get a good look at the falls.

Another one of my favorites and a nice way to get to get to Great Falls when the park is crowded.

I like walking around the Mount Vernon Estate. You can buy an annual pass and walk all around the property pretty much any day of the year. They'll even let you bring your dog.

I like taking walks across the bridges here. The bridge near Occoquan is particularly scenic in the fall.

Has anyone here done the walk across the Bay Bridge? That's one thing I've always wanted to do. I wonder how long it takes to walk across that thing?

As far as hiking trails go, I think the Heritage Trail is a fantastic walk. I still haven't walked the entire length of it, although over the years I've done most of it.

As far as urban walks go, I like walking around Reston Town Center, then taking the trail that goes under Reston Parkway to Lake Anne Plaza and then around the lake.

Does anyone know if you're allowed to walk around the Sallie Mae property in Reston?

That's a really beautiful area, well maintained with pretty gravel paths, gazebos, a spectacular lily pond, and inscribed poetry on various bricks and beams. They don't have any "no trespassing" signs but I've never been sure if it was ok to walk there or not. OTOH I can't imagine they made all those walking paths just for their employees.
