A lot of married couples are moving here now because one spouse was offered a job. I've been wondering how that worked out for the other spouse.

Was it easy for that person to find a job? Or, were they more likely to start a business after arriving here? Or, were they more likely to stay home and take care of the house/family?

Yes, it was easy. That was in '93 though.

I moved here at the end of last year because of my husband's job. I spent months job searching even before I moved, and finally got an offer in July after about 2-3 months of hardcore searching. My job is in Maryland, in the mental health field. My job search definitely wasn't easy.

we moved here for my husbands job, but I work from home and have continued with the same firm. I will say if I wanted to change jobs, looks like there are plenty of opportunities.

I'd love to see more people taking this option. With all these foodies moving in from places like California, Louisiana, Wisconsin, etc. it would be great to see some of the spouses opening cafes or maybe selling baked goods or sandwiches to the local stores. Or they could have specialty shops selling items from back home.

I think a lot of it would depend on the spouse's field. I am a teacher and was able to find a job about 6 weeks after moving here.

I found a job within a month of moving here from CA (actually two days after getting my final work permit/green card). I've since switched jobs twice and had absolutely no problem finding one. All three jobs were in different fields.

My husband and I moved here at the very end of December, he was the one with the job offer. I work in the medical field as an x-ray tech, and was able to find a job about a month after moving here. Although I looked and applied for many jobs before we even moved here.
