I always assumed they were hoping to catch drug dealers (who make transactions in particular mini mall parking lots at, say, 2 am?) or something like that, but after reading this I suppose it could be business break-ins they're trying to prevent. All in all, the City police seem to be pretty vigilant.
Not much of a decoy, if they are so glaringly obvious to spot!

[quote=Tiger Beer;16032626]Oh, so it's a generic human form that fits the description of half of all males. Well, I've certainly seen THAT guy than.

He LOOK likea MAN.

I too found the description interesting. Is it not PC to list the race of a suspect? So we don't know if we're looking for an average size white guy, Asian guy, or Black guy? Only that he look likea man?!

I hate to point out the obvious, but since this guy looks for unlocked doors, people should start locking their doors.

From the Fairfax Times article kutra posted a link to:

'The man has been described as 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and 150 to 175 pounds, but Broderick said he has not yet been positively identified. Law enforcement officials do not yet even know his ethnicity.'

I suppose we can take them at their word. *shrugs*

Correct, the FCPD only have one video of the suspect and it's very unclear. In fact, in the community meeting I attended, they couldn't even tell if the burglar wore a mask or not. Which made me question the whole point of having video surveillance. "Well, sir/ma'm, from your video, it is clear that the suspect is 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall and 150 to 175 pounds. But most importantly, it tells us that your house was burgled!".

Well, now the burglar seems to be operating in Prince William county: Pr. William burglaries may be tied to others

The FCPD arrested a burglar on Monday night in Oakton, but going by the Prince William burglaries, either he has accomplices or it was clearly the wrong guy.

My neighbor suspects that this guy tried to enter her house but was scared away by the dog. Her screen door had a rip in it where someone had unlocked it from the inside. She has a big dog that probably started barking.

A few months ago someone opened the side door to my garage that was accidently left unlocked but fortunately we had set the alarm which went off. When the police showed up they looked around, found the side door open and filed it as a false alarm.

This is really scary. Sometimes I leave the back screen door unlocked (if I'm on the first floor). But now that it's cold, it's always locked. We have glass on our doors and I made sure to install non-turnkey deadbolts on all the doors when we first moved in.

I hope this guy (or guys) don't decide to head west. But then again, alot of people have guns out here and people are really nosy out here.
