Is there a way I can recycle my magazines that isn't simply putting them in the recycling collection or bringing them to a doc's office? I used to drop them off at a Kinderharvest location (they distributed them to shelters, etc). Is there anything like this locally? Thanks.

I'd try the frugal living forum or green living forum for ideas. I don't know of anything in particular that's local beyond the general "doctor's office" etc.

Amvets and National Childrens Center -- both of which do local pickups if you call their phone number -- accept magazines. I donate mine that way -- sometimes they resell them or give them to nursing homes, etc.

I also know that The Arlington Central Library on Quincy Street acepts magazines -- which they then resell in their used book store for 25 cents. It's a good deal all around.
