We're relatively new to the area. We live in Reston and have a 3-year-old. We're looking for some fun Halloween activities. I just learned about the Vienna Halloween Parade and we'll probably head over to that. Any other ideas?

Sometimes the malls have trick or treat nights or events. There is Dulles Town Center and Tyson's Corner...check their sites. Reston Town Center may have something as well.

I love Cox Farm...all sorts of things to do there. Great Country Farms probably has something happening too.

Local churches have things...The Community Church in Ashburn had something last year.

Good luck! And welcome to the area!

PS: The County usually has themed classes...last year I took mine to Claude Moore Park where they did Halloween crafts and had story time and cookies and such. It was a lot of fun. That info would be on Loudoun County Park and Rec...Fairfax probably has the same.

I second Cox farms. Our boys (5 and 2) love going there!

I've heard that Boo at the Zoo is fun, but I've never been myself.

Dulles Town Center is having a special concert and store-to-store trick-or-treating on the 31st.

Reston Town Center is having store-to-store trick-or-treating from 12-4 on the 30th.

Brambleton Town Center is having store-to-store trick-or-treating from 11-1 on the 30th.

there is also Pumpkinville at Leesburg Animal Park. I actually preferred that to Cox Farms, which I find to be ridiculously overcrowded and overpriced.

Reston Town Center has several events up on their website - Octoberfest is Oct 8-10, although that is more a carnival than something halloween related. They also have Trick or Treating on the 30th.

I believe I saw that Reston Nature House is doing a Haunted House thing on the 29th and 30th as well?

I also suggest the Dullesmoms.com website - they keep a fairly comprehensive calendar.

Not in Reston area, but Boo at the Zoo at the National Zoo is always pupular.
