Would you choose Loudoun Valley High School or Woodgrove High School? (Purcellville: fit in, houses)

Hi,

Our family has been giving serious thought, research, etc., into relocating to Western Loudoun County, specifically in the Purcellville / Round Hill area. All of the homes we focus on seem to fall into one of two high school pyramids, either Loudoun Valley High School or Woodgrove High School. Is there anyone out there that has any experience with these schools and could shed some light on their differences? Would you say that the demographics, and more specifically, the environment and "vibe" of the schools would be identical, since they're so close together? Or do you think they would have a different "feel" , and if so, why? Do they serve very different types of populations/students, or practically identical? Which would you choose? My kids are in the Woodgrove zone, though they are still in elementary so I have no first hand experience. I would venture a guess that both schools are going to very similar, both with significant rural population. Loudoun Valley includes downtown Purcellville and parts south, and Woodgrove includes downtown Round Hill and parts north, to Lovettsville. Really no difference in these communities. Woodgrove is a new school with great amenities, but some people don't love new schools so really thta would be the only discernable difference.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too. Although, when I look at the map, it seems that LVHS will have a larger concentration of kids coming from subdivisions in town, whereas WHS will serve a more spread-out area. Also, when you say they will have a "significant rural population", what do you mean by that (other than the obvious fact that they live in houses farther out from town)? Do you think that will change the feel or vibe of the schoolkids that go there? I just want to make sure that my kids have something in common with the kids in their school, and will fit in well.

Anyone else have a comment on these schools (or towns for that matter)? Thanks!

I only meant they are more in "the country" as opposed to "subdivisions". The home prices out in the country are going to be higher, more property, wealthier folks, more horsey (although the whole area is incredibly horsey). Very small distinction between the areas though, really.
