My husband and I are relocating to the stafford area after 20 years this coming July. Does anyone know what the average market rate is for local townhomes? None of the townhomes will give us that information with hopes of us qualifying for the other rate. I am a teacher and my husband is in the IT field. I already know my income exceeds the average for a family of 4 in that area. We also have two teenage daughters one who will be in college this fall and one left at home with us. Are there any safety concerns we need to be aware of?

Can't help you with the market rate but can tell you there are no safety issues to be concerned about.

Do you mean interest rate?

If so, your credit score and the type of loan you qualify for will determine that. Whether the home is attached or detached is not a factor.

I suggest you visit the website www. GoStaffordVa.com. This is Stafford County's Economic Development website. It has links to Economic Development, Tourism, and the County Government web pages, with lots of information about the local community, economy, etc. There are lots of economic reports and demographics under the Quality of Life section of GoStaffordVa.com. I don't know if it gets to the level of detail you desire about average townhome costs. There is a variety of housing in the Stafford, so hopefully you'll find something to meet your needs. As far as safety is concerned, you may wish to contact the Sheriff's Department to see if they have any specific reports regarding crime rates: staffordsheriff.com. Stafford County, Virginia is known for its high quality schools, new hospital, new library, low crime rate, and lots of culture and history: Stafford is George Washington's Boyhood Home!

Thanks for the input. We have checked and found the environment is just what we are looking for our girls. However, trying to get information on the regular rate for townhomes verses the restricted income rate seems to be difficult.
