Hi All,

Today i went to design center to pick my hardwood and cabinets.

They gave me two options in hard wood 1. Molasses (darker) 2. Paparika (lighter than molasses but still darker than oak) .

I also need to make combination of Cabinets with the hardwood.. Again i have two options in cabinet. 1. Java Glaze (darker) 2. Rogue (lighter)

Can you guys please suggest me right combination of hardwood and cabinets. We have stainless steel appliances and Beidge color tile splash in the kitchen and Cafe Montana granite counter top.

Can you guys suggest me wall color which will go with these combination.

Really appreciate your suggestion.
Thanks,
Kim

Kim,

Those look like wonderful choices! I love the Design Center. Here is my recommendation:

Paprika floors
Java Cabinets
Color: Off white with touch of silver/grey

I have dark cabinets like the java and floor in the same color. Granite is almost identical and the backlash is a tumbled tile in a light tan. It looks nice.

I love the Java cabinets with the molassas flooring. I feel that combining the java cabinets with the paprika flooring doesn't match at all, as it's not even the same color category.

I'll rock the boat the other way!- Rouge and Paprika. The lighter shades; and here's why.
You didn't mention what type, and/or style of lighting you would have. And how much. Dark colored floors and cabinets can absorb a tremendous amount of light making the room appear dungeness (I'll assume that this is some national/regional production builder that offers a very limited amount of upgrades, and/or charges a gazillion dollars for them). So, unless you have several recessed cans for general lighting, and under-cabinet lights for task lighting- stick to the lighter colors. It doesn't have to be monochromatic but, you don't want stark contrast either.

Thanks for the suggestions. We will have recessed can light in the kitchen and nook area. Thank you so much.

I like the Molasses and Java with the granite....but it all depends on how much light you'll get in your kitchen!

I'd shy away from the darker color. Better something more middle of the road for resale purposes.

Some people really dont like very dark woods.

Here is a windowless kitchen with very light maple cabinets and maple laminate flooring. I have the spotlights on the cabinets in one photo. It still looks darker than it is. It's a TH, with no backdoor. The lady that got foreclosed was a designer for Robb and Stuckey.
