I have already read some threads on preschools in Fairfax county, but I want some more information. We will be moving to NOVA in April, probably to Vienna. My son is in a wonderful inclusive program here. It is a more structured program, which introduces students to early phonics concepts, math, music, etc.. I really want a preschool that has structure in it. Also, I want it to prepare him for Kindergarten. He will be in pre-k next year and has recently started reading. Please let me know which preschools you would recommend that offer more than just play. Of course, I know that play is important too! Thanks!

How old is he? If he has already completed a 4's program, Dolley Madison Preschool had an afternoon Pre-K that is very structured.

Most of the preschools I know in Vienna are play-based. The only one that I can think of that might be more academic is Appletree II which often has a long waiting list and is expensive. It's perfect for working parents, though since it offers care from 7 AM until 6 PM.

I agree with michgc. Most of the preschools in Vienna are learning through play. Appletree II is a great suggestion. You might try Wesley United Methodist Preschool right in the center of town. While they highlight that they are a learning through play program, they also have a special Science Program in which you can enroll your children. Unfortunately, most of the preschools have had their Open Houses and Registrations this past Jan/February. It is always worth looking into each one, though. I know my son's preschool had several openings in the 3 year old classes this past year. The director said enrollment in all Vienna preschool (3 year old programs) was down this school year. Good luck!!
