  • County Tax: $1,504.64

I gues the $1,871 is property tax. But, what's the extra $1,504??

What county is the property in?

The total taxes could include any utility taxes or special assessments plus the county tax. In PWC, there was about an extra $100 in special assessment and utility tax on my tax bill.

It's in Alexandria, near Huntington Metro Station.

In some states, there is ONE property tax and that's it. What's with the $1700 and $1500 tax? That's over $3K for a small condo. Oh, yeah and there is another $600 for home owner's association fee too.

What makes you certain that total tax doesn't mean total tax - that is, $1,871.72 total, $1,504.64 of that is county tax, and there's an unexplained $367.08, not an additional tax of $1,504.64?

I can't claim that I understand your figures, but when I see a line for TOTAL I'm inclined to understand that to mean all inclusive.

Oh, and the question "what county is it in" has an answer of Fairfax County.

See this: Real Estate - Other Tax Districts*- Fairfax County, Virginia

Fairfax County has some extra tax districts in addition to your regular real estate tax. Your property may be in one of these districts, like the Burgundy Village district. The above site states, "Your Assessment notice shows whether your property is located in any other tax districts in the upper right corner."
