Sure beats sneaking food out of the cafeteria like we used to do in college. Now we live like royalty!!!

I second the Sea Pearl suggestion off Strawberry Lane. I've been there twice and my wife and I have really enjoyed it both times. We can't wait for the Mosaic District to open to give us a few more dining options in the area (Matchbox, Black's, etc.).

The Mosiac District? I'm new, please fill me in! Where is this? Is there a site for their planned stores/restaurants?

It's a mixed use development of stores, restaurants, residential living, etc. Target is the big retailer who will be there. It's on the corner of Lee Highway and Gallows Road: http://www.mosaicdistrict.com/

The website says Fall 2012 but I imagine everything won't open at once.

Mosaic is just the southwest corner of Gallows and Lee Highway, almost over to the Merrifield Post Office. There is a lot of other stuff going on over on the northwest corner, too. That goes all the way up to the Metro station and includes Merrilee Drive and Dorr Avenue, but that's all separate and apart from the Mosaic District. If it all stays on schedule, the population of Merrifield is going to be growing about as fast as San Francisco during the gold rush.

Thanks all for the input; we ended up having dinner at Bazin's and that was a great rec!

Delicious food, lovely atmosphere (not too casual but also not all frou-frou), service attentive but not hovering (which drives me crazy), and all in all a really nice night.

I just got back from three days house hunting and ate at Bazin and Sea Pearl while I was there. My husband's temp housing is right above Sea Pearl.

I feel like one of the bunch! (instead of the North Carolinian that just keeps talking about moving to NoVa).
