I hope that title was descriptive enough, trying to squish lots of info up there! I've been avidly reading threads for several weeks now and have pretty much figured out the area we want, but would like your input as well.

We will be relocating to the DC area. Since it will be a relatively short assignment, we wish to rent a condo. However, our requirements are rather difficult.

1) I am a wheelchair user so need a first floor w/o steps or an elevator building. High rise does not bother us.

2) We have pets. Two elderly dogs (they're not incontinent or anything) and one rescued cat who adopted us.

3) Our daughter has fallen in love with Fairfax High. Obviously there are many excellent high schools in that area, but given that we are moving her in the middle of high school, we really prefer to give her at least that bit of input.

4) Proximity to public transit is very important. I prefer to avoid driving when possible and my husband will be commuting to the Pentagon.

5) We would prefer to be at $2,200 or lower for 2+br/2+bath. Garage is a plus.

Thanks in advance for any direction you can provide.

If you haven't seen it already, here is the 2010-11 boundary map for Fairfax HS. Notice that most of its district is further west than the HS itself, and also therefore further away from the Pentgaon.

Fairfax HS Boundary Map

If you can find a spot at a price that works for you in the far eastern side of the district, you will be within a reasonable drive of the Vienna Metro, and from there about 35 minutes (including change of trains at Rosslyn) from the Pentagon.
