I am narrowing down my CONDO choices and would like your opinion on Highway 28. My future job is on Willard Road and I will report to the office Mon - Fri at 7:00 AM. I plan to leave each day no later than 6:15, in case I want to grab a cup of coffee on the way to work.

Which is the worse commute?

1. The Condo in Herndon, I will access 28 from Frying Pan Rd and travel south down 28 and exit at Willard Rd.

2. Condo #2 is off of Stringfellow Rd where I can skip 28 or access 28 by traveling West on I66.

Which would you choose?

I think in the am, more traffic is going towards I-66, so it depends on which side of 66 you are....frequently, there is horrendous traffic on 28.

Route 28 is heavier northbound in the morning - at least just north of Route 66 and up past Route 50. My lucky wife commutes southbound on it every morning.

From Stringfellow I think you can go 29 west then 28 north, I don't think you have to hop on 66

You do not even have to get on 29 if you don't want to. There is a back roads way

From Stringfellow/50 to Willard would be a very short commute down 50. Don't think you have any issues in the morning, but 50 in the evening is pretty heavy. I would think there are some short cuts and would look on a map

So everyone agrees living South of Willard rd is better than living North of Willard rd.

Well you'll be still be so close to work that I honestly can't see it mattering. However, if that's the only difference then I'd go with Stringfellow. You'd be closer to the shopping at Fair Lakes. I used to work on Stonecroft and for me the traffic was pretty clear either direction that early in the morning. However, it was usually pretty heavy in the afternoons heading south to 66.

Agreed. Plus you will be going west on 50 in the morning, opposite most traffic. The back way is on Poplar Tree Rd. How far to stay on Poplar Tree depends on where on a Willard you are going, if you are east or west of 28. I would give different directions based on that.

From what little I've seen, I would say yes. But, if you are looking at a place on Stringfellow Rd you may not even have to go on 28 to get there.
