Default Reddys

Reddy's BBQ Truck in gainesville is the best BBQ I have found here, they have AWESOME ribs too! You can smell this stuff a mile away! Its a hole in the wall operation but sometimes those are the best. They are on 29 right near the manassas battlefield on the outskirts if Gainesville. Reddy's BBQ Company | Home

There's a guy who sets up a smoker every weekend in the parking lot of the Hollin Hall Safeway on Fort Hunt Road. He does some pretty good ribs.

Whoever said NOVA is the land of bland food obviously has not tried all the Hispanic, Indian, Thai, Chinese, and Persian offerings in the area (all of which are far better than U.S. southern-style BBQ, in my opinion).

That was me. Okay, I'll correct my statement. NoVA does not have good BBQ, native to the area, nor do they do a great job on steamed crabs. But I'm biased because I got a lot of both of those things growing up in Southern MD. What I find about this area is that we have no really good food specialty that defines this area that we do really well. Sure, we've got great ethnic dining choices and "regular" restaurants about. But on things like authentic delicatessans, pizza, and BBQ, I think the good place is a rare find.

Perhaps we're as JFK once described DC: Southern efficiency and Northern charm. We're kind of in the middle, between two well defined culinary regions, so things here are neither rare nor well done.
