I have found a nice subdivision called "Independence" in Manassas, Va. I wanted to know if anyone is familiar with this subdivision. The home we are looking at is a possible fix upper. We want to make sure our investment in this home will be worth it.

A couple of questions about the area:

1) Is it known for high crime?
2) What school district serves the area?
3) Is the resale value in the neighborhood high?

This is probably the safest neighborhood of Manassas, although, I consider it to be Gainesville and not Manassas.

Prince William County School district:
The ES is Piney Branch.
The MS is Gainesville.
The HS is Stonewall Jackson.

This isn't really a sellers area. The recession hit the outlying suburbs like Gainesville/Manassas very hard. However, the market has started to recover a little.
