As a native of Massachusetts, I find this study highly suspect. Cursing is not only an accepted part of the local lexicon, it's encouraged. Hell, it's punctuation.

I lived in OH at one time and my experience matched the survey results on both cursing and lack of courtesy! I got a kick out of the article. Hey, maybe that's why I don't find most people as cold or rude here as some other people do. Maybe it depends on where you have moved from.

Maybe alot of the curse words up in MA just don't get recognized because of their accents. I too have no facken clue how they're ranked so low.
