I've been trying to get on the website for about an hour now...but having difficulty.

Does anyone know if Tyson's Corner is open at midnight...or?

Thanks!

Yes, open at midnight.

ETA: Link to PDF file (http://assets.macerichepicenter.com/FileManager/Property/Hours/TysonsCornerCenter/TCC_HolidayHours_2011.pdf - broken link) with the mall hours.

Technically, because of the movie theater, the mall itself is already open (the building, not stores), and has been all day...so if you want to go camp out in front of your favorite store and wait for midnight, you can do that. Might be the best way to snag a parking space. ;-)

Does anyone know if there are any free counseling services offered for people who work in the Tyson's Corner area friday (me) and might be traumatized by the frenzy of monomaniacle behavior that is sure to ensue? I might need a xanax or something.

Ha!!! I was thinking this same thing on my way in this morning. I work in the same area.

I would love to have availed of all the black friday markdowns, but I'm afraid having to deal with the masses was a reprehensible scenario for me

So how were the crowds this year? We didn't see any stores with unusually big crowds, but then again we didn't spend much time driving near shopping malls this weekend so maybe all the people were at places we didn't drive by.

We did the "small business Saturday" thing and I was pleased to see the bird feeder store in Reston had about 10 customers when we were there. OTOH the clerk said that's about the normal number of customers they have. We stopped by a Target, too, and the crowds seemed about the same as on any other weekend.

I was in line at the Best Buy in Potomac Yards area. There were hundreds of people in line Thursday evening for the midnight opening.

I went to Tysons Friday night and it was surprisingly not as busy as I expected. Parking was easy to find and store lines weren't crazy. BUT I'm sure it was a different story at 12am. I also went to Potomac Mills and that was surprisingly not as crazy as I expected. Parking was easy to find as well.

I think the 12am opening is great for casual shoppers who don't need to wait in line for a $200 flat screen. You can go to the mall at normal hours and not have to fight through crowds of crazies

I was in Kansas with family this year. The best buy there had a line down the shopping center, and the parking lot for walmart was completely packed, as was the mall. There was absolutely nothing in the ads worth waiting that long for - people were camped with tents in front of the best buy starting wednesday night.
