It's a function of incomes.

Thanks for popping all the air out of my balloon. Yes, it is a function of incomes, but Northern VA also has its charm outside of money.

Middleburg might, but most of it is just endless suburban strip mall hell... I've never understood the people that are obviously wealthy enough to afford 10 million dollar homes in Great Falls or McLean and still CHOOSE to live here..., you'd think if they already had amassed that amount of money, they'd have moved somewhere better by now..

True, there are way too many big box stores and strip malls. You've got suburbia in spades if you like that kind of thing.

But don't forget about Delaplane, Upperville, Round Hill, Purcellville, etc., or if you get a little further away, Fredricksburg or Culpepper. In Northern VA there are some beautiful areas with a charm that is rare in America today.

If I were a rich man ("toodle toodle toodle toodle toodle toodle toodle too" springs to mind), I'd live closer in than further out, too - why? Because it's really hard to get the proper cooking ingredients out in the boonies.

And that's a big "no kidding"!
