OKIE Dude, you'll appreciate this one.

1990's - family lived in KC. Had a lake house down on Grand Lake about an hour outside of Tulsa. I was a college kid at KU. Would take some of the frat brothers down to the lake. As this is a family website, I'll spare everyone the key details, other than to admit that even to this day (I'm in my 40's now) I can recite the Budweiser label from memory, word for word. 4 hour drive back to KC. Longest part of the drive back was the first two before we hit the first Sonic in Ft. Scott. $20 and a footlong chili cheese dog, tons of cheese tots, and enough Route44's of Cherry Limeaides to rehydrate a fully loaded Tahoe later, the remaining 2 hours were always a (breeze) - pun totally intended.

I've been to that Sonic in Winchester - and loaded myself up well enough to probably knock a good 8 months off the old life span - and loved every minute of it. Wife and kids though - not so much, as the drive back to Ashburn was a familiar (breeze) from dad's past... Wife still has no idea that I can recite the bud label ;-)

Sometimes best to let a laying dog lie ( not misspelled either)

Don't even get me started over Bruams either ;-)

West of the Mississippi you can find Sonics that still have car hops that serve you in roller skates. I love Sonic's breakfast burrito w/Jalapenos for any meal. Their cheese tater tots can not be found anywhere else. The cream pie shakes are awesome when they are available. I could go on and on but unless you grew up with Sonic, you may not get-it. After moving to Va. we will travel an hour to get our Sonic fix.
We have a few down here (Roanoke) but I've never been to one. I don't eat much fast food except for the occasional Subway and the odd trip to Chick-fil-A. I didn't grow up with Sonic so I guess I don't get it!

My prediction is Jack in the Box is quietly planning its return to Nova, and will dominate the fast food business.

We had one open up here a few years back. I ordered a chili dog. Average would have been nice; we’ve not been back.

I was going to ask if this is a good thing or bad, but LesLucid’s post may have answered that question.

Just for kicks and giggles, I went to the Sonic in Capitol Heights today since I was in that area. The service took forever and the cooked food was mediocre. The cherry limeade was delicious though. Sonic is not going to be a spot I’m gonna go out of my way to visit in the future. Maybe if I’m visiting mom in Indiana or I’m near one here, the cherry limeade is a must have.
