The blow-up penguin and snowmen are up a few doors down, and elsewhere there are some lights decorating a tree and a front porch.

Lots more things for the dog to bark at!

Our street, which is usually the street that goes all out, is somewhat subdued so far this year. We have maybe 5 houses with lots of lights and another 3-4 with a token string or two. Lots of houses with nothing.

The street next to us, which usually has almost no lights, is really decked out this year. There's one stretch of 6 houses in a row that's worthy spectacular. Funny how it changes from year to year.

Goodness. There were some people with Christmas lights up before Halloween! Most went up this past weekend, I imagine because the weather was so nice. We prefer to wait until an ice storm is scheduled to make a real challenge. At least, that's how it seems to work out.

I'd say 1/4 of the houses in the neighborhood have lights up. Next door has those silly blow up things, but they've yet to inflate them. They've just been sitting in a crumpled heap on the lawn for the past 2 weeks. I'm not sure what they're waiting for.

We put our lights up Thanksgiving weekend. White lights on the house and in the bushes, candles in the upstairs windows, and our Christmas tree (with colored lights) in the front window.

I believe there is a Hindu holiday in October that involves lights.

There seems to be a lot up already. Anyone know of any big, music coordinated ones yet? There's been a guy down off of Poplar Tree Rd. in Chantilly that did one in his back yard that backed to the road last year. Haven't been down there yet to see if it's up this year.
