We are paying $2700 for a two bedroom two bathroom with den (1300sf). The price includes underground garage parking an fees for two dogs.

One-bedrooms start at $1400.

Apartments have stainless steel appliances and granite countertops.

you guys are awesome! you've helped a lot. I'm actually going to stay with my friend for 2 weeks before I get a place to get a feel for the area but she's all the way in Laurel, MD so i don't know if she'll be able to help. Let me ask this, I know that NY cabs are pretty cheap compared to most places but I don't know about DC.

is getting a cab at night from DC to the arlington area easy (in terms of finding a cab) and about how much would it cost say from NW DC? If it's reasonable I'm definitely open to getting an apartment that's not as close to the metro (and would love to get some good suggestions for apartment complexes).

Thanks again for all the responses.

Getting a cab from DC to Arlington (and vice versa) can be easy if you are in a high population area (not in a neighborhood). It is about a $10 cab ride, give or take. If you are still trying to find an apartment, check out Urban Igloo. They helped me find my apartment and they're awesome -- and free!

thanks for the link. i'll check them out. Also, looking at the map it seems like Bethesda is not too far from tysons... on the map it says about 19 mins drive but i'm wondering if anyone knows what it's like in the morning? I'm still looking for the best place to live that's not to far from DC itself.

From DC to Arlington - at least 12-15$ plus tip, provided there is no traffic. I don't remember ever paying 10$ for a taxi ride, unless you are within the disctric boundaries.

multiply 19 minutes by 3 in rush hour (in both directions).

soooo i was reading through the responses and I realized my question is still unanswered. I am looking for actual names of apartment complexes in arlington that are decent. I only know about avalon and archstone properties but I'm sure there are others. If you guys could give me a list to check out that would be really helpful.

Thanks,

Thanks,
A lot of the cheaper apartment complexes do not advertise online, and require you to call or walk in. An example is the Library Courts which is near the Virginia Square metro but has no website. Your best bet will be to use Google Maps for "Arlington VA Apartments", then trace a route from over Wilson, Clarendon, and Fairfax Blvds and see what pops up.

Yeah, what Smoke said

Check out Park Adams Apartments and Lyon Village. also, there are condos called Colonial Village that might have a small unit in that price range from a private landlord

Thanks,
Dittmar Company is the other big property company in the area. They have stuff all over Arlington.
