Wow! Spurned by a dog. Now that's saying something.

BTW, "ghastly" is one of those great words the Brits use a lot more than we do over here, like "horrid" or "vile." British English seems to really have the adjectives for revulsion, just as Yiddish has a lock on the nouns to describe various types of buffoon (schlemiel, schlump, schlub, putz, schlemazel, etc.).

My answer is no longer timely, but I wanted to go ahead and add to the thread anyway to plug my own favorite butcher, the Organic Butcher of McLean. Beautiful and tasty meat and they will sell you a goose: The Organic Butcher | Artisan Meats, Traditional Service - Charlottesville, VA & McLean, VA.

Until a few years ago, I had eaten meat from the supermarket my whole life. Watching "Food, Inc." changed the way I thought about food. Now I am happy to support a local butcher and organic farming. The meat tastes so much better, too!

Hey, good info, Sally. I wonder if your butcher sells the gyro meat someone was asking about on a different thread.

I recall that Polyface Farms (profiled in that same film) is near Charlottesville.
