I want to move to Arlington VA and I found a place walking distance to the courthouse metro for $2000/month for a 2br. I would have a roommate.

Is this reasonable? I'm new to the area and from the midwest so to me everything sounds terrible. But for this area and this close to the metro, is that good?

That's a pretty good deal actualy. Most two bedrooms in Arlington tend to run for 2500+.

Is it potomac towers? I dont have a negative thing to say, but thats the only one I have ever seen in walking range to Courthouse. If you are along Route 29 you get a discount, not sure why, its not even that the area is dangerous or something.

Thumbs up

There are a lot of apartments walking distance to courthouse.

Archstone Courthouse Plaza
The Prime at Courthouse
Dittmar Courtland Towers

And probably a zillion others

Its a garden style apartment with a private owner right off of 16th street.

It depends on what you are looking for. Do you want a gym? Washer/dryer in your apt? Or just in the building? Do you need a front desk with a human at it? You pay for all of these out the "you know what". There are garden apts. without all the high rise amenities but the rents are lower.

Rents are really terrible in NoVa and will just be getting worse as the county takes away what little affordable housing there is left. The county has a huge stock of highrise apts. that are ridiculously priced.

We lived in Courthouse Place about 7-8 years ago, and I think we paid about $2,300 for our two bedroom. Loved that neighborhood.

Ya that sounds right for a garden walkable to the metro. A high rise would be even more!

Are you using the metro to get to work? If not something further from the metro will be hundreds a month cheaper.

I think that sounds pretty good for the location!

I used to live walking distance from the Dunn Loring metro, and I payed $1275 for a one bedroom apartment. That was 5 years ago.

In Tysons Corner, I currently pay $1495 for a one bedroom, and its walking distance to nowhere.
