I think you are referring to Fort Hunt, which has houses in the 400K range. But that is not close to Richmond Highway.

Belle Haven, Bucknell Manor, and Hollin Hills are all situated off of Fort Hunt Road between Route-1/Richmond Highway and the GW Parkway. The primary zip is 22307. They are all lovely, upscale, wooded neighborhoods, whether they count as part of the Route-1 Corridor or not. If not, they are all still strangely present just along one side of it. Also Mount Vernon District Park, the ice arena, and of course the marina down by the water.

I'm asking because I've heard people that says "It is a good area" and other ones saying "Don't even think about living there". I was looking a TH in the Mount Vernon Square area...thoughts????
It depends - if you don't have any kids and don't plan to any time soon, then it might be fine for you. Other than the issue with the schools, even some of the "rough" areas aren't really bad or very dangerous places to live.
