I mean, a big portion of its parking lot is being replaced with buildings leaving very little parking spot left, certainly not enough for weekend shoppers.

Can you be more specific there are multiple walmarts on Route 1. Are you talking about the one at Southport, or the one in F-burg, or the one near Alexandria?

PS I apologize for the southport one, I designed that project 5 years ago when my soul was far smaller and I hated what I did for a living.

If you don't know which one, then you obviously no longer live in the area.

To everyone else, what are they building on that parking lot?

Well when I drove by yesterday it looked like rows of smaller stores. I'm guessing they will be like the ones they put in awhile back at the Hybla Valley Center. The Hybla Valley ABC store is moving to the Safeway center just down the road from Kings Crossing so there probably won't be one of those there. I'm sure it will be the usual chain stuff.

More stores? That means more parking spaces needed for these stores.

It has no parking spots a it is during weekend. Where are people supposed to park?

Don't know but I'll make more of an effort to stay off Route 1 on weekends since I presume there will also be more traffic backups.

The Walmart at King's Crossing is a mini-Walmart, more focused on groceries than the typical Walmart. But it still draws a lot of traffic. The developer who owns the rest of the parking lot is putting in 20,000sq st of additional retail, which seems like overkill for such a small space. There a commitments from Maggio's pizza, Panda Express, and Jimmy Johns to open there already and the developer has been advertising more space, so no doubt more stores will be moving in.

The problem with improving Route 1 has been the narrow lots. This was one of the few large ones and it seems like even this one will be a mess for the foreseeable future. Oh, what a little zoning might have accomplished....

Unfortunately the zoning practices in the county seem to be "by right". Where I'm originally from people got fed up with this type of stuff and voted to incorporate everything.

Can you imagine the extra shortage of parking spaces?

If you go to that Wal-Mart now, you will have problem finding a parking space.

With few extra stores, finding a parking space is going to be like winning a lotto (exaggerated ofcourse).
