I've been looking online trying to find apartments but it seems as if most of the websites are all advertising a few of the most expensive apartment complexes. Can anyone give me some advice as to how I should go about finding apartment listings online? I'm looking to live near Crystal City. Any help would be much appreciated.

Use a Realtor. The first and only time I have been on an apartment search I used one. Worked fine and I did not have to pay any fee for the assistance. Some of them are in the know about places that are going to become open and you can get in before anyone else. I just watched a friend try to find a place in DC using Craigslist. She finally found one but she sure worked way too hard and found that many of the listings were teasers. Good luck.

Homesdatabase.com is the website for the local MLS. Contact one of the agents for any rental you're interested in, he/she should be able to show you others that fit your criteria, including apartment rentals, which are usually generically advertised in MLS.
