I used to walk in Springfield Mall but of course it's closed for renovation. Is there anywhere in the Springfield or Annandale are for the general public to walk indoors without joining a health club or otherwise paying to do so?

It's just too darn hot and humid to walk outdoors right now. Does Northern Virginia Community College or George Mason or ANYWHERE around here have a facility they let the public go to? The other malls I know are too far away...

Landmark Mall is probably the next closest. Otherwise, the only thing I can think of would be to head to the nearest big box store (Target, K-Mart, etc.) and zig-zag up and down the aisles

Landmark or Tysons are probably the closest malls to you. I don't know of any other ondoor facilities in that area that would compare.

Another suggestion would be going out in your neighborhood in the early morning as it is frequently much cooler then.

Other than that, I don't have any ideas.

The big box stores are still open there. I imagine you could truck around Macy's/JC Penney for a while.

I agree w/Landmark (that's my backup when it's too hot outside) - there are lots of walkers when it's sweltering out.
