Hello,

Can anyone tell me about the Dunn Loring section of Vienna?

How is it?

We are thinking of renting in this area but don't know much about it.

Any one have any info on the schools they are zoned for?

I live in that general area. Your school will depend on your exact location, but I think most kids go to either Falls Church or Marshall (or possibly even Madison).

It's a good location near the Beltway, 66, Tysons, and 50, and obviously the metro. There will also be a HOT lane ramp from Lee Highway. There's a lot of annoying construction going on, but it should be worth it. I park at Dunn Loring Metro and there has been a lot of development just in the past few months. Soon you'll have a Harris Teeter and some other retail right at the metro station in addition to the Halstead retail/residential development. And of course you have the Mosaic District that is currently in the opening stages.

As for demographics -- and this is purely anecdotal -- I find that there's a good mix of people in the area. I think there's a lot of young Asian professionals and families. But with so many new residential units being built, it's hard to say what the demographics will be in the future.

The area is nice. Merrifield is going through a sort of revitalization with alot of new retail/residential projects currently in the pipeline. Pretty much all the schools in Vienna are fine. A large portion of the area you are talking about is in the Stenwood/Kilmer/Marshall school pyramid. Stenwood is a very good elementary school.
