I am not from the area and was wondering what a realistic commute time from Fredericksburg to Herndo would be? I know people on here talk about 95backing up but it looks like you could get onto 28 at Dumfries and head into Herndon. Is this correct and would these make it an ok commute?? Thank you I am really trying to do a lot of research long distance and I really appreciate any and all help.

Default Forever....

That's about 60 miles... you would be driving a long time.

Figure minimum, 2 hours. Probably more like 2 and a half to 3 during rush hour.

Traffic going north on 95 is like nothing you can imagine...Horrific. Then you would be on 28 going north... Ahhhh another picnic of a drive. Now the drive home, that's another pleasure trip... especially on a Friday when everyone is heading down to the beaches.

28 doesn't intersect I-95... maybe you're looking at rout 234? or 123? both kind of head in that direction.

Basically you're looking at a around an hour and a half drive there, and anywhere from 2 hours to 5 hours heading home (depending on traffic). Unless you have a strange schedule, and can miss rush-hour, I wouldn't even attempt it.

why subject yourself or spouse to that horror? with out any traffic (at like 12midnight) it would be just over an hour at best.

Leesburg would be an hour at the WORST traffic and hitting every red light on 7. 35-40min on most mornings about 45 in the evenings. without traffic I can there in 25min. on rt7. take the toll and during rush hour you can there in 30min. (barring no accidents)

Winchester would be long but not as bad a frederickburg. probably 90+min in bad traffic.

Warrenton again is out there but better than fredericksburg..probably 60-90min it won't get real bad traffic wise until gainsville.

Manassas has better housing prices, just search the neighborhoods etc...

Sterling...I'd rent in Cascades, countryside or in the Dullas area around nokesville rd. lots of condos and apt going up there. It's close and its cheaper than Herndon. Then you will get a feel for the area and can go out and explore your options futher out etc...

Default I drive from Fburg to Sterling

My commute is about an hour and 20 mins. Herndon is right next to sterling and I live about 30 mins off of route 3. I tend to miss all the traffic.. I get to the office at about 6-630am and leave around 2-230 and its not that bad of a drive. I take 95 to 234 to 66 to 28. There are several different ways you can go... You can take 17 and not be on 95 for more than a few miles.. if you drive a civic thats good on gas
