Hi All,

I know that the Shirlington area does not have metro transportation. Does anybody know if there is bus service from there to the Farragut area? I also would like to know how far Kingstowne is from a metro station. We are planning on moving this fall and are looking into different areas that would allow us a decent commute but now be so suburban.

check out wmata.com

You can put in start/ending addresses, and it will show you the quickest way between two points using public transportation.

Check out routes 231/232 and 321/322

Shirlington has very frequent bus service to Pentagon and Pentagon City, where you could transfer to the Blue Line to go up to the Farragut Square area.

Kingstowne is about 2-3 miles from the metro, depending on where in the area you live. There are Fairfax connector buses that run daily throughout the major roads to the metro station, if you don't want to park.

I just noticed your need for a "decent commute but not be so suburban" Kingstowne is as suburban as it gets. Also, what is your idea of a decent commute? In time? Mode of travel?
