When you say expensive, have you included the cost of commute and your time?
If you are spending $6 dollars per commuter plus $10 in tolls plus using an extra hour of your time per day, that equates to $336 per month per commuter plus 20-22 hours of lost productivity (even if you have a minimum wage job that equates to another $150 per month per person). $486 bucks extra per person in lost funds due to commute is a real cost which should be included in your analysis of cost.
