Hunter sounds like the name of a hybrid driver's kid, not the name of a hybrid driver.

Goods are moved to market? Thats what sales tax already covers, as well as the freight fees charged on those goods. Those goods are then appropriately priced to the consumer. Therefore each good you are delivered already incorporates the funds necessary to move those goods on public roads. If anything those fees (which have remained stagnant for over a decade should be examined)... then again this governor has been bending over backwards for the freight industries, even building them free infrastructure for buildings.

Secondly, there is the actual dynamics of what causes damage to roadways. Road way fatigue is exponentially attributed (to the 4th power) to weight load. Therefore, it is accurate to say that a hybrid, weighing 1500 pounds, causes 81 times less damage than a 4500 pick up truck and 28,000 times less damage than a 10 ton freight vehicle per mile driven. Therefore they also cause that ratio of the maintenance need on the pavement, as nearly all repaving activities in our region are caused by fatigue on roadway surfaces not frost-heave....

I don't know which hybrid you are referring to, but the the most popular one, the Prius, weighs a bit over 3000 pounds.

And F-250s also weigh more than 7000 lbs, whats your point? I was referring to two cases which do exist (civic hybrid weighs 1800 pounds unloaded with standard driver, perhaps 1500 was a bit low when considering the drivers weight as well). Fact remains, this whole idea that hybrids are "stealing" is so phony it is a joke. They are already paying orders of magnitude higher than their weight class would indicate.

But if you'd like to nit pick to obfuscate, feel free. I dont care, its the law now and as a life long resident of Virginia I will suck it up and pay for it, and hope that reason will some day prevail when we stop being the butt of late night show jokes.

If you were simply trying to point out a correction I apologize if you feel the above was a bit rash; but you have to admit you aren't seeing the forest for the trees if that is an argument for the hybrid tax
