Of course, the pilot could live near the Eisenhower or other metro stop and metro to the airport.
Eh, Old Town to DCA is about 5 miles or better yet, one/two Metro stops (depends on either King St. or Braddock Rd. station). Takes a whopping 15 minutes to get there. Hence the suggestion. Now of course comparing to the distances I used to travel over and times it took to get places, this to me is like crossing the street. For others, it may be longer than needed. Either way, Arlington or Alexandria are much better suggestions than someplace further out.

I live in the area (and lived just south of Old Town in the past) and know which routes tend to be more of a pain than others. The number of miles is not a good measure of commute around here. If the pilot takes the metro, s/he has many options, but s/he initially was talking about driving. There are MANY locations offering driving options that are no less of a hassle than Old Town and many more comparable to driving from other parts of Alexandria City. But Arl near DCA is 5 minutes, no matter what hour of day, and could even be walked.

To clarify--in all of my posts I referred to Arl near DCA, not Arlington in general. I mean Crystal City and nearby 22202 neighborhoods.

If true about his/her preferences for peace and quiet when not at work, that still doesn't change the accuracy of what I said.

Many pilots and non-9-5 workers prefer driving over metro or other public transit as their schedules sometimes put them back home in the middle of the night when metro is closed. Just a thought.

1. Buy a motorcycle
2. 123 to GW Parkway to 395 south to DCA
3. 50 into Rosslyn 395 south to DCA
4. Move closer to the airport

Hello from Boca.

Avoid driving on major highways at all costs.

That is all.

Hello from Boca.
If he follows 2 and 3, won't he get lost? I mean why take 395 when the airport is the next exit on the Parkway?
