As requested in a separate thread, here are the Class of 2013 SAT scores as reported by the College Board for Arlington and Fairfax Counties and the City of Falls Church. I have not seen Loudoun scores for individual schools yet. I'm providing the standard caveat that individual students, not entire schools, take these tests, and that those who consider school-specific data irrelevant should feel free to ignore it.

Color code - Fairfax (blue), Arlington (red), Falls Church City (green), Loudoun (black).

TJ 2194
Langley 1837
HB Woodlawn 1807

Sweet info - thanks.
In addition to a Fairfax/Arlington/Loudoun post, I would also like to see (like last year) a Fairfax/Arlington/Loudoun/Montgomery one since the latter has many schools right near the top. It actually surprised me how their top 5 compared to FX's top 5.

MoCo has released its results.

http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/i...DataTables.pdf

I leave it to JEB to include the color coding.

Whitman 1901
Poolesville 1857
Churchill 1839
Wootton 1822
Richard Montgomery 1781
Bethesda-Chevy Chase 1760
Walter Johnson 1716
Damascus 1693
Montgomery Blair 1688
MCPS Average 1648
Quince Orchard 1638
Sherwood 1611
Northwest 1592
Magruder 1588
Rockville 1582
Watkins Mill 1567
Clarksburg 1553
Einstein 1540
Blake 1518
Gaithersburg 1578
Paint Branch 1467
Northwood 1463
Seneca Valley 1447
Kennedy 1428
Springbrook 1407
Wheaton 1331

These VA districts that are either in or sort of in the greater DC area have only one high school, so if they release their overall results, you have the results for that HS.
Alexandria City (TC Williams)
Clarke County (Clarke County)
Falls Church City (George Mason)
Fredericksburg City (James Monroe)
Manassas City (Osbourn)
Manassas Park City (Manassas Park)
Rappahannock County (Rappahannock County)
Winchester City (John Handley)

Remember that TJ pulls a lot of the top scorers from many of the top 5 Fairfax schools. If they were back at their home schools, the schools' scores would look different. Montgomery Cty doesn't have quite the same type of "gifted" school to lure students away from their base schools.

JEB77, does TJ get factored in to Fairfax County's average?

Updated with Montgomery information in purple and City of Alexandria in orange, and with one FCPS score that I had mistyped corrected. While Montgomery has several magnet programs at schools like Richard Montgomery (IB) and Blair (STEM), none of them are as large as TJHSST, as a result of which the top non-magnet schools in the county typically post higher schools than the non-magnet schools in NoVa with higher scores.

Color code - Fairfax (blue), Arlington (red), Falls Church City (green), Loudoun (black), Montgomery (purple), City of Alexandria (orange).

Yes. FCPS reports the scores for FCPS schools, including TJHSST. Roughly 20% of TJ students live in other counties. I don't have time to do it now, but a year or two ago another poster asked how that bumped up the FCPS average and I did a rough analysis backing out 20% of the TJ test-takers to come up with an estimate of the impact. It's in an older thread.

Thank you for posting this.

Loudoun has the biggest score jump (16 points) compared to 2012. I think within ten years, Loudoun's average SAT score will be close to Fairfax's.

I have noted before, a HUGE contingent of students from West County area go to TJ (Rocky Run, Carson), as well. It isn't just the top 5 schools that TJ makes a difference for.

I love this thread every year, but I do think people read a lot more into it than is necessary. Our schools in this area are very, very good. We have on average a highly educated and well off populace, which generally translates into good SAT scores. It is obvious from the top schools which areas have the most money.

Hmmm...does this suggest those areas should get less public funding so that the areas with less money can get more?

[as real-subtlely noted by my ID, I'm in the Westfield pyramid area]
