Any recommendation? Preferably someone who is specialized in East Asian antique.

What exactly are you trying to do to it? I had an antique loveseat (American or British, maybe 100 years old) repaired, refinished and reupholstered and they did a great job. Don't know about Asian. I can give the name if you want - would have to look it up. I think it was in Manassas - very small (owned by Asians).

I have some chairs and a coffee table that need repair/restoration. All the joints probably need to be cleaned up and properly reset. The lacquer finish is all peeling and flaking so everything probably would need to be stripped and properly repainted, etc. They are still functional but I want to look into full restoration before it's too late - finding the cost is my first step...

I priced a similar job and it was going to be about 1000. I didn't do it.

I just noticed that the Sterling company posted above gives classes if you want to DIY. I might try that.

I am pretty sure the Sterling company is the one that refinished and recaned two rocking chairs for me years ago. Yes, they do have a DIY class, in fact suggested I take it for the smaller rocker which I did. Then they did the caning on that one as well. Not cheap, but worth it if thee pieces are important to you,
