Hi,
i've checked a few websites but also wanted to poll this audience.....

What is a fair salary for a person with these qualifications in the Northern VA area?

- Masters degree (Systems Engineering)
- PMP certified
- 10 years experience
- Project Manager

I know it would depend on factors such as benefits, etc. so feel free to take those into consideration, or not.

I cannot comment on your particular qualifications, but I know quite a few systems engineers in this area. They all make between 80-120K (not including annual bonus). Perhaps a project manager would make a bit more, though. I don't know the salaries of any of the managers.

I know you can make from 80K up to 155K within the federal government. Not sure in private industry.

I can't give you specifics, but I know someone that just graduated from a very good Virginia school with a degree in Systems Engineering and his starting salary is 90K.

Private sector or government(contracting)? Security clearance? How niche of a role can you fill? Blah blah blah - all depends; in the SCI world I would say between 80k (low rate contracts) to 200K (high rate contracts, small company, 1099 etc).
