I am unhappy with my current physician group - the Dr. rushes me and does not give me time to ask questions and at the last visit she did not even touch me! I had a small lump on my forehead - she did not even try to feel it - just sent me off to a dermatologist. Can you believe it?

We got some names from husband's nephrologist, our regular family dr. retired yrs. ago and I haven't seen anyone since. I haven't met w/this one yet, but here's who he said is good: Christina Michaels, 6355 Walker Lane, #505, Alex.. (703) 971-4444.

I'll probably contact her office and see her when I need a doctor.

I do know a very nice Rheumatologist if you need one.

I certainly can believe it. When I moved to Gainesville, the first doctor I went to did not order my A1C test on my blood work. It was like ... duh! That's why a diabetic goes to the doctor every few months is for the A1C. Not to mention he rushed me too and did not even touch me.

He sent me off on a wild goose chase around to the pharmacies for a prescription he said would be $100, but it was well over $400 a month! His staff also didn't have much common sense. Then there was the issue of getting my blood drawn... took 3 people over 5 tries to do it.

Needless to say, I didn't go back to that doctor. I now have a great doctor in Haymarket, but I bet that's too far for you.

What insurance do you have? It might help to know since some groups might only accept certain insurance...

We haven't been in the area long, but so far, I've been pleased with the services at Family Physicians of Old Town Fairfax. They have been able to schedule us quickly, as needed, and they have been on target with their medical care.

I forgot to mention this to another poster looking for a pediatrician, but I had to switch primary physicians a few years ago after a serious medical emergency (the specialists decided that my primary was dropping the ball), and turned to the Washingtonian's lists. The lists were 100% right.

[Mine was in Manassas, but you can go to the Washingtonian site and run a search].

mlv311,
That is the physician group I am not happy with!! Family Physicians of Old Town Fairfax- so funny - I so like one of the male Dr.s I have seen there though - I am going to request him next time instead of the Dr. I usually get.

I have Anthem Blue Cross and am happy with them so far.

I use Chantilly Walk-In Clinic on Rt 50 in Greenbriar (by Springfellow Rd). One doctor, no appointments needed. Great bedside manners. Will spend all the time you need. He actually insisted that a friend get more tests done on something she was casually complaining about, he pushed to get it resolved, until they discovered she had cancer stage 1 - caught it in time to operate and get it all out.
